When they click on the question mark on the top corner of an object, an object hint will be displayed, though the player has to wait for the hint meter to fill up before they can use another object hint, just like with a regular hint.
This is the only game in full CGI where Jerome Beckett appears.This game was teased at the end of Mortimer Beckett and the Time Paradox.This is the first Mortimer Beckett game to feature real voices.This also occurs in Mortimer Beckett and the Crimson Thief. Starting with this game, players now have to find actual objects instead of pieces of an object.

To access to the next chapter, Mortimer must free a man that was held captive in the prison. He visits the Town Square, Church, Prison, Tavern, and River. Throughout the chapter, Mortimer tries to find the pieces of the first jewel. He hopes that Mortimer will be able to find the missing king. He tells him not to fret, and that many of people will be willing to help him. He then tells Mortimer to go to the City of Dern to begin his quest. Grongh tells him that he can do a lot and that Mortimer knows many things that are great secrets to them. The people who have been loyal to the old king remain there. Then, Cedric Syper, who is one of the king’s councellors usurped the throne, causing many people to flee the kingdom. He didn’t want the crown to be worn by someone not worthy of it. The crown had to be hidden because it carried eight magical jewels and it gave great power to whoever wears it. The prime secretary entered the king’s quarters and saw that the king wasn’t there, but his crown was. He explains that Zantya was once a wonderful kingdom and that their good king rolled the land of righteousness. Grongh tells him to be patient and listen. Grongh tells him that he is in the great kingdom of Zantya.
Mortimer awakens from a forest and meets a creature named Grongh. The opening cutscene starts off where the previous game left off. One he finds all the pieces, he will place the jewel on the crown. Once he places items where they belong, he will receive a piece of the jewel. In this game, Mortimer must discover and find eight missing magical jewels from the king's crown.
